In celebration of World Environment Day, FUNDHAS organized a week of educational and cultural activities from June 2nd to 6th, aimed at raising awareness among children and adolescents about the importance of environmental preservation, sustainable development, and the adoption of responsible and collective practices. The initiatives, aligned with SDGs 11, 12, 15, and 16, sought to expand knowledge about environmental issues, strengthen connections with nature, and encourage behavioral changes toward a sustainable future, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to environmental education and the development of conscious and engaged citizens.
Among the initiatives, the following stand out: 1) The “Sustainable Healthy Eating” Project, which adopted a practical and sensory approach, providing meaningful learning and redefining values related to environmental care. The program included themed workshops that involved 298 children and adolescents from 10 FUNDHAS units, held in the morning and afternoon sessions. Activities included an Environmental Circuit, Ecological Trails, Sustainable Cooking, an Environmental Soiree, a workshop on Stingless Bees, and vegetable planting; 2) The ECOArtes Festival – Cultural Action in the Community, held in partnership with the Reciclaí Collective at the Dom Bosco Unit, reached 260 children and adolescents. The initiative integrated experiences, workshops, exhibitions, and artistic performances, using the power of cultural action as a tool for awareness and engagement. The Festival highlighted the creative, proactive, and transformative potential of participants, encouraging changes in perception and behavior regarding the environment and the community.
The initiatives highlight the integration of education, culture, and sustainability, strengthening youth leadership and environmental awareness.
